To be considered for The Songwriter's Beat please send a CD to:
The Songwriter's Beat
West Street Records
P.O. Box 20086
West Village Station
NYC NY 10014
We are aware that many songwriters these days have websites with sound files, but we prefer listening to CD's. Thanks.
Please do not email sound files - if you email a sound file it will be automatically deleted.
Cassettes accepted if you do not yet have a CD.
You may send any other materials you would like to have considered or which you feel represents your current music (lyric sheets, press kit, reviews etc), but this is not necessary.
The Songwriter's Beat is booked months in advance, so please be patient after sending in your submission.
We listen to a sample of every submission, but we can not guarantee a performance slot.
Please do not email or call to find out about your submission; we will contact you with an invitation to perform.
Again, please be patient! We receive hundreds of submissions each year.
While you are waiting, send in the 'sign up!' form to be placed on The Songwriter's Beat email announcement list. This will keep you up to date on what The Songwriter's Beat is doing. (Presumably if you wish to perform at the Songwriter's Beat, you will be interested in hearing about the other songwriters who are performing.)
Because of staff limitations (there are no paid staff!), we are unable to contact artists who, for whatever reason, are not booked at the Songwriter's Beat. We are also unable to return CDs.
We DO encourage you to come to any Songwriter's Beat night, check out how things are run,
what other people are doing, participate, introduce yourself!
Another excellent way of meeting us is to come to the Artists' Salon, every first Thursday of the month from 6pm to 8pm at the Cornelia Street Cafe. This is a wonderful opportunity: a time when artists meet, network, discuss new works, and, as we like to think of it, cross-pollinate.
The Artists' Salon
Every first Thursday (Sept-June)

Please keep in mind that we suggest songwriters bring in new material when they perform at The Songwriter's Beat.
So....start thinking about new material, or reworking some older material, or poking around and finding that old song from high school that you never dared to perform live before......and have fun! Keep writing!!
